Salvione and Rowback Ready to Take Talents to the Next Level

Gloversville natives and FMCC Athletes of the Year, Macey Salvione and Joe Rowback are eager to take their academic and athletic talents to the next level. Salvione will be heading to UAlbany to join the Women's Volleyball Program and Rowback will join the Oswego Lakers Basketball Program.

Macey led the Lady Raiders Volleyball team to a 15-2 overall record and a runner-up finish in the Region 3 Championship. She earned Mountain Valley Conference player of the year and 1st Team All-Region. She finished the season with 133 digs, 119 kills, 0.92 aces per set and 3.05 kills per set.

Salvione looks to play a role as a defensive specialist with the Great Danes. UAlbany finished the 2021 season with a 14-15 overall record.

"We are extremely excited that Macey has the opportunity to transfer to UAlbany to play at the Division 1 level with the Great Dane's, after competing one season for the Lady Raiders. We all wish her continued success on the volleyball court and in the classroom. We will miss her competitiveness and leadership qualities. We know that she will bring those same attributes to the UAlbany volleyball program," said Head Coach Tina Olyer.

Joe Rowback will take his talents to SUNY Oswego in the Fall. The 6'4" forward had a major impact on the Raider basketball program this past season. He averaged 24.3 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game and had a 44% 3-point shooting percentage. Rowback earned the NJCAA Division III player of the week in November after erupting for 44 points per game with 13.5 rebounds per game. He was also tabbed to the 2nd Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-Conference. He led the Raiders to a Region 3 Quarterfinal appearance.

Rowback joins a winning program, as Oswego finished the 2021 season with a 27-3 record, earned the SUNYAC Title and were the NJAA Division III Runner-up.

"I got my first head coaching job and Joey was immediately the first player I hoped to get to come play for us. On and off the floor I cannot say enough good things about him. He was a great player at Gloversville, great player at FMCC and no doubt will be a great player for a very good program at Oswego. We can't wait to follow his success," said Head Coach Ej Gallup.
