RAIDERS FINISH 3rd, STEVEN HULBERT SETS SCHOOL RECORD

Steven Hulbert makes a perfect throw down the lane.
Steven Hulbert broke the school record posting a 299 game on Thursday.
The FMCC Raiders bowling team finished in 3rd place on Thursday at their final Conference match at Boulevard Lanes in Schenectady. Freshman Steven Hulbert (Johnstown) set a school record in the second game, posting a near perfect game of 299. That score smashed the previous record of teammate Evan Sawitzki who had rolled a 280 the previous year.

"This was our best finish of the season due in large part to the fact we finally had a full squad. We actually held the lead after two games but our final game was only so-so and it cost us the lead. Steven had a spectacular day, not only did he post the 299 game, but also bowled a 208 and 203 for a 710 total, good for third all time at FM. Steven works hard at his game and I'm very proud of the progress he has made," stated Coach Tom Rathbun.

The team posted some fine scores overall. Andrew Bauer had a high game of 225 (554 total), Joe VanAvery 220 (582 total), Gabby Jenks tallied two 191 games for a 565 total, Evan Sawitzki had a high of 195 (532 total), and Kyle Davis had a high of 156.
"It was nice to see our team being competitive today. Having a complete team shows that we can challenge the best in our Conference. Instead of losing by several hundred pins like had been the case, we were beaten by a few dozen pins and it proves we can compete at Regionals on Saturday at Kingpin in Rome. I'm looking forward to it," commented Coach Rathbun.

The Raiders will compete at Regionals on Saturday, February 18th at King Pin Lanes in Rome, NY. The match is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
