Raheem Small - Men's Basketball - Male Raider of the Month, January 2015

Raheem Small

The Male Raider of the Month for January is Raheem Small. The 6’ 3” senior forward Small is a very effective, but not flashy, player. He’s the kind of player who may not be noticed by casual fans. That having been said, the fans in Schenectady surely noticed him when the Raiders played there and defeated the Royals on December 2nd. Small scored the first basket of that game with a two-handed dunk. He then just calmly ran back to play defense.

FM Head Coach Ed Collar offered high praise for Small, stating “Rah is a player who does many things for the Raiders that do not always show up in a statistics sheet.  It is difficult to take him out of games because of all the different things he does to help our team win.  He is the anchor in the back of our point zone, he is the front guy on our press, he grabs key rebounds with his athleticism, and he can step out and shoot a 3 when we need it.  He is a great teammate who unselfishly does all the little things that go unnoticed by fans, but not by his teammates and coaches.  Raheem is a soft spoken, hardworking player that performs in and out of the classroom.”
