Shortstop Stephanie Rice is the Female Raider of the Month for April. Her softball season began a bit slowly as she was recovering from a minor basketball injury, but by early April she was a top-notch middle infielder. (Rice was also Raider of the Month of February for her basketball prowess.)
Rice covers a lot of ground at shortstop and she hits with both power and a high batting average. Her batting stats for the 20-game (weather-abbreviated) season include a batting average of .415, an on-base percentage of .441, and a slugging percentage of .554.
Rice is also a member of the Raiders’ 3.0 Club, which is an honor roll for student-athletes who maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Sophomore Rice is graduating and plans to continue her education at SUNY Cortland in the fall.
