Raiders Win by Six Runs and Lose by One

TROY – The FM baseball team played their second doubleheader of the northern season on Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders played two with the RPI JV team, winning Game One 7-1 and narrowly losing Game Two 9-8.

The FM squad has talent and depth. A dozen Raider pitchers saw action. None of them pitched more than two innings, so all 12 will be available for mound duty this weekend when FM resumes conference play.

Game One

Gregory Mosetti led the FM attack by hitting safely four times and driving in two runs. Andrew Houser went two-for-four at the plate. Kristjan Maksuti had two hits and three RBI. Christopher Rockefeller contributed two hits.

It took the Raiders a while to score their first runs in Game Two. The FM offense got going in the sixth inning, and five Raiders crossed the plate. RPI took a 9-5 lead into the seventh. FM mounted a comeback, but could only score three of the four runs needed to tie the game. RPI won 9-8.

Two Raiders had multi-hit games. Gregory Ruddy went three-for-five and drove in two runs. Cullen Beauregard had a two-for-three day at the plate.

The FM Nine will now prep for their big weekend series with conference foe Hudson Valley. The Vikings are scheduled to visit the FM campus for two games on Saturday. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. The two teams will then finish the four-game set on Sunday at Hudson Valley.
