JOHNSTOWN – The FM baseball team was defeated twice on Thursday by the area-leading Herkimer Generals. That doubleheader setback gives added importance to the Raiders' upcoming Saturday-Sunday series with Schenectady.
Four of the eight teams in the eastern area of Region 3 will qualify for regional postseason play. The two top-seeded teams will host first-round games. Currently, Herkimer's 14-2 record is the best among this group, and FM's 8-6 mark is second-best. But Hudson Valley at 8-8, Schenectady at 7-7, and Mohawk Valley at 6-8, are also in the hunt. The Raiders are to host the Royals of Schenectady CCC in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and are to play the Royals again on Sunday in Schenectady's Central Park. The Sunday games also have a 1:00 p.m. start.
