HAMPTON, VA – The Raiders narrowly lost a 3-2 game and rolled to a lopsided 17-2 win in the second game. In all, it was a day with many positives, including two Raiders having four-hit days, and two FM pitchers throwing strong, complete games.
Pitcher Christian Maldonado took the mound in Game One and was masterful. The six-foot sophomore threw a complete, seven-inning game. "Maldo" struck out eight, walked only one, scattered five hits, and allowed only one earned run.
Freshmen Baylee Hall and Raymond Osterhout both stroked four hits on the day. Hall's production included a double.
Freshman Jared Gregware also had a great day on the mound. Gregware tossed all five innings of a game shortened by the run rule. Gregware K'd three batters and walked two while allowing only three hits and one earned run.
