Raiders Down Jayhawks, Bow to Rams

WHITEVILLE, NC – The FM baseball team had the unusual opportunity to play two different teams on Tuesday afternoon. The Raiders defeated Jamestown Community College 6-5 and bowed to host Southeastern CC 6-1.

FMCC vs. Jamestown

FM was designated as the home team in the neutral-site game with their opponents from western New York. The Jayhawks scored two runs in the second inning, but FM had a big third inning and led 5-2, with Baylee Hall on the hill.

Jamestown tied the game in the fourth, but FM scored the go-ahead run in the fifth when Kristjian Maksuti hit a ball to right field that Jayhawk Jeff Andrulis got to but could not catch. That run was all that FM needed, thanks to the masterful relief pitching of Chris Carmel and the errorless play by the Raiders in the field.

Carmel was nearly perfect in relief, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing no hits and just one walk while striking out two. Lewis Lima's two-run single was FM's big hit in the game. Jonathan Wingate hit safely twice in three at-bats.
