WHITEVILLE, NC – FM's William Hewitt pitched a complete-game gem in the first game on Wednesday afternoon. Hewitt's shutout led the Raiders to a 2-0 win over Southeastern CC-Whiteville. It was the righthander's second superb outing in three days. On Monday he was nearly perfect in a relief role, he started on Wednesday, and he was the winning pitcher in both contests.
The other Raiders gave Hewitt all the backing that he needed. They banged out nine hits and crossed the plate twice. FM's defense played errorless ball in the 2-0 win.

Baseball Head Coach Dave Hennessey praised Hewitt's performance against the Rams as being "Lights Out." Hewitt scattered six hits while allowing no runs and just one walk. He struck out three Southeastern batters. Hewitt's fellow Raiders gave him solid support and played errorless ball. James Waters and Andrew Houser each had RBI's.
Unfortunately, the Raiders had a major letdown in Game Two. The Rams teed off on three FM hurlers and took advantage of Raider errors to score 14 runs in the first inning. There was no more scoring in the game, which was shortened to five innings by the run rule.
FM is now 4-8 on their southern swing. They will take on the St. Andrews University JV in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon to conclude the southern trip. The northern portion of their season is scheduled to begin on April 7 when they play at Columbia-Greene CC.
