Raiders Win Big, Prep for Season Finale

 

JOHNSTOWN – The Raiders rolled to twin wins over Clinton CC on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's wins gave FM a sweep of their four-game weekend series with the Cougars.

Game One

The Raiders used a big third inning to take charge of the game. The eight-run inning featured doubles by Jonathan Wingate and Zachary Hughes.

Head Coach Dave Hennessey handed the ball to Kyle Casimiro for Game One. Casimiro went the distance.

A five-run fifth inning sealed the win. With the score 13-5, Houser was on third, James Waters was on second, and Jon Wingate stepped to the plate. Wingate sent a triple to deep center field, scoring the winning runs. Waters crossed the plate as Wingate was sliding safely into third base. (See photo at the bottom of this webpage.)

Game Two

Jason Agresta was on the mound for FM. Agresta and the Raiders' defense shut out the Cougars.

FM put six runs on the board in the second inning. Zach Hughes walked and stole second. Jon Wingate brought him home with a sharp single. Kevin Chrisman walked. Ray Osterhout slammed a two-run double. Chris Rockefeller added two more runs with an impressive home run over the right field fence.

James Waters opened the third inning with a nice piece of hitting. He just went with the pitch and used a smooth swing to send a triple into the right-center gap. Hughes brought him home with a productive ground out.

Rockefeller singled in the fourth. DaShon Boyles doubled, and Andrew Houser brought them home. FM led 9-0

 

 

 

 

 

 

Waters was hit by a pitch to open the fifth inning. Lewis Lima had the chance to end the game by plating Waters. Lima saw a pitch he liked and lashed it well over the left field fence. FM won 11-0.

FM hopes to continue their winning ways in their season-ending series with SUNY Adirondack that begins on Tuesday. The Raiders will host the Timberwolves Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. The two squads will complete their series at East Field in Glens Falls on Thursday.
