Baseball Closes Out Season With Wins Against Jefferson

The Raiders Baseball squad completed its 2016 season with a 4 game series against the Jefferson Cannoneers.  FM traveled to Jefferson on Tuesday where they lost the first game 10-0, but came back to win game two 10-7.  Jefferson traveled to FM on Thursday where the Raiders won both games 5-0 and 4-3.

In game one at Jefferson the Cannoneers combined for 11 hits and six RBIs.  Jake Petralia ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 10 runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.

Patrick Hart went 2-3 at the plate, but FM was unable to cross the plate.  Kyle Agresta, Ryan McNamara, Ayden Healy, and Paul VanWarner each had a hit a piece in the 10-0 loss. 

In game two the FM bats came alive as the Raiders bounced back to win 10-7.  Patrick Hart knocked in three runs, he homered in the fifth inning.

Baylee Hall allowed seven runs over seven innings and recorded the victory. He struck out one, walked seven and surrendered eight hits.

The bottom of the first saw Jefferson CC take an early lead, 2-0.  The Raiders responded and took the lead in the third, scoring four runs on an error, a sacrifice fly by Hall, and two singles.

FM tacked on 5 more runs in the 5th inning for a 9-3 advantage.  Agresta doubled, DaShon Boyles walked, Calkins was hit by a pitch and Hart drilled a homerun. 

Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Jefferson CC close its deficit to 9-6. One run in the bottom of the seventh helped Jefferson CC close its deficit to 10-7, but it wasn't enough has Hall was able to close out the game for a 10-7 victory.

In game one DaShon Boyles knocked in three runs, helping the Raiders to a 5-0 victory over Jefferson on Thursday at Raiders Field.

The Raiders' Patrick Hart kept Jefferson CC off the scoreboard for all seven innings. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on five hits while striking out five.

The Raiders pushed across one run in the third inning on an RBI single by Kyle Agresta.  Boyles followed up with a 3 run homerun to set the score at 4-0.  Agresta was able to score one more bottom of the fifth on an error to seal the 5-0 victory. 

In game two, the Raiders and Cannoneers exchanged the lead seven times on Thursday, but FM ended up on top with a 4-3 win in seven innings over Jefferson.

The FMCC Raiders pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. A sacrifice fly by Ryan Cullam scored Baylee Hall and gave the Raiders the lead for good.

Jake Petralia racked up two RBIs on two hits for the FMCC Raiders. He doubled in the fourth inning
and singled in the sixth inning.  Paul VanWarner got the start for FM going 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and allowing two runs.  Justin Putnam relieved going two innings and getting the win.  He gave up two hits and allowed one run.

Jefferson jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. The Raiders got two-run rallies in the fourth inning and the sixth. In the fourth, the FMCC Raiders scored on an RBI single by Hall, plating Kyle Agresta and DaShon Boyles scored on and RBI double by Petralia.

Jefferson managed one more run in the 5th and 6th, but Putnam worked out of trouble.  FM took the win 4-3 as Agresta scored in the bottom of the 6th.  Petralia got FM out of a jam in the 7th with a game ending double play. 

FM's season comes to an end at a 10-21 record as they battled through many injuries all season long, and look forward to returning a lot of talent next season.  Best of luck to seniors Baylee Hall, DaShon Boyles, Lucas Calkins, Zach Hughes, and Raymond Osterhout
