Raiders Split with Royals on Kevin Chrisman Memorial Day

The FM baseball squad hosted the Royals of Schenectady CC on Saturday afternoon.   Prior to the game FM and the Little Falls high school team honored the late Kevin Chrisman who was a former FM baseball player.

In game one a tight game was decided in the eighth inning as the Raiders fell 7-6 to the Royals.  Ryan McNamara put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Raiders. He doubled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Patrick Hart took the loss for FM. He allowed seven runs in eight innings, walked two and struck out five.

Schenectady CC jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the third.  

After posting three runs in the fifth, the FMCC Raiders again scored three in the seventh. In the fifth, the FMCC Raiders scored on an RBI double by Ryan Cullam, plating Paul VanWarner.

The Royals got one-run rallies in the seventh inning and the eighth.   The game was never in doubt after the eighth, as the Royals scored one run on an RBI triple.  

The Raiders and the Royals lit up the scoreboard on Saturday as they combined for 19 runs. In the end, FM won the offensive battle 10-9 in seven innings.

The teams combined for 22 hits, including three extra base hits.  The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to eight lead changes in the game.

Justin Putnam got a hit in each of his four at bats. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the third and seventh innings. The FMCC Raiders were sparked by Putnam and Ryan Cullam, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.

Jake Petralia got the win for the Raiders despite allowing nine runs over seven innings. He struck out eight, walked two and surrendered 11 hits.

The top of the first saw the Schenectady County CC take an early lead, 5-0.  The Raiders had a big inning of their own in the 3rd where they scored 7 runs off of 5 hits to take the lead 7-5.  FM scored another run in the sixth off of an RBI single by Cullam.

A key seventh-inning rally gave the Raiders the lead for good. They tacked on a total of two runs on an RBI single by Putnam and a walk by Healy.
