Baseball Opens up at Home with Hot Bats

The FMCC Raiders jumped out to an early lead in Game 1 of the Double Head, but were unable to hold on and lost 14-4 to Sullivan County CC on Saturday.

FM's Ryan Cullam racked up three RBIs on one hit for the FMCC Raiders. He homered in the second inning.  It didn't take long for the FMCC Raiders to respond as they scored three runs of their own in the third and took the lead 4-3. The FMCC Raiders scored on a two-run error and a fielder's choice.

Sullivan County CC took the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run double by Abel Nunez.  The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as Sullivan County CC scored 10 runs on two doubles, an error, a two-run home run by Ivan Obijo, and three singles.

In game two the Raiders lost a battle of the bats, falling short in a 10-8 ballgame against Sullivan County CC .

The FMCC Raiders were led by Lucas Calkins' hitting. Calkins went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Sullivan CC combined for five hits and six RBIs.

The top of the first saw Sullivan County CC take an early lead, 3-0. The Raiders got two-run rallies in the first inning and the sixth. In the first, the FMCC Raiders scored on a two-run single by Baylee Hall, plating Raymon Osterhout and DaShon Boyles.

The lead stayed with Sullivan County CC after the fifth, when it scored five runs on two doubles and two singles.  Sullivan County CC pushed across one run in both the sixth inning and the seventh.  

Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped the FMCC Raiders close their deficit to 9-8. An RBI double by Ryan Cullam and a sacrifice fly by Ryan McNamara gave the FMCC Raiders life, but the Raiders would fall 10-8.
