Baseball Splits Home Opener

The Raiders Baseball team opened up their northern schedule on Tuesday against Jefferson CC.  The Raiders spilt the double header with the Cannoneers.  FM lost game one 12-6 and bounced back to win game two, 6-5.

FM jumped out to a 3-1 lead heading into the 5th inning of game one.  The Cannoneers took the lead in the 5th inning, scoring 7 runs to take the lead. FM scored 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning, but it wasn't enough as FM fell 12-6. 

Dan Parslow started on the mound for the Raiders.  He allowed five hits and seven runs and struck out three over four and a third innings.  Noah Wygel threw two and two-thirds innings in relief.

The Raiders had nine hits in the game.  Parslow led the Raiders at the plate going 2-2 with a single, home run and 2 RBI's.

Richard Umholtz threw a complete game for the Raiders in a 6-5 win in game two.  He allowed five runs on eight hits and struck out nine. 

FM scored in the first inning off of an RBI single by Kyle Sherlock.  Jefferson scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead, but the FM offense wasn't done.

In the fourth inning, the Raiders took the lead for good scoring 5 runs.   Coby Caraballo grounded out to the right side, scoring one run.  Cory Moore singled scoring two runs and Dan Parslow rounded out the inning with a triple, scoring two more runs. 

The Cannoneers managed two runs in the 7th inning, but Umholtz settled in and got a ground out to finish the game with a 6-5 victory. Cory Moore led the Raiders at the plate going 2-4 with 2 RBI's.

FM's next contest will be at home on Saturday, April 14th.  The Raiders will host Adirondack in a double header that begins at 12:00 p.m.
