The men's baseball team had a frigid outing against the Adirondack Timberwolves on Saturday at FM. The Raiders split the double header with Adirondack, losing game one 3-1 and winning game two 6-1.
FM's Bradley Smith was stellar on the mound for FM. He gave up just three hits, no earned runs, struck out seven and walked one batter. Ben Marsh was just as good for the Timberwolves, allowing just two hits and one run over seven innings of baseball.
The game was scoreless heading into the 7th inning. Brad Smith got two easy outs, but the Timberwolves forced errors on the FM defense. The away team rallied with two outs to take a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the inning, Kyle Sherlock was hit by a pitch and Brogan Barker scored Sherlock on a single. But that was all the Raiders could push across the plate. Noah Wygel collected a hit for the Raiders.
FM jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second game. Noah Wygel got the start for FM on the mound and went the distance. He allowed seven hits, one run and struck out three.
Joshua McCaffrey led FM going 2-3 at the plate, including an RBI. Cory Moore and Michael Reith each had a double for the Raiders. Brogan Barker and Richard Umholtz each had singles and an RBI. James May rounded out the offense with a single.
