Baseball Tops Royals in Four Game Series

The men's baseball team had a winning weekend in a four game series against the Schenectady Royals.  The Raiders won all four games and improved to 7-7 on the season.

Game One at FMCC

Dan Parslow drove in four runs on two hits to lead FM to a 13-10 win on Saturday.  The Raiders collected nine hits and the Royals had seven in a high scoring affair. 

Joshua McCaffrey got the Raiders on the board in the first inning with a double.  FM took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Richard Umholtz doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Parslow tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Kyle Sherlock tripled scoring one run. 

Bradley Smith got the start, he lasted five innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out 11.

Cory Moore and Parslow each collected two hits for FM.

Game Two at FMCC

In game two, FM battled from behind the whole game to win 13-12.  The game was tied at 12 in the bottom of the 6thAndrew Marciniak had a big single to start the rally.  Michael Reith pinch ran for Marciniak and Richard Umholtz bunted him to second.  McCaffrey came up big and tripled scoring Reith for the go ahead run. 

Kyle Sherlock came in to pitch in the bottom of the 7th inning and got three big outs to earn the save and secure the Raider victory.

McCaffrey, Marciniak and Brogan Barker each had multiple hits for FM. 

On Sunday, the Raiders traveled to Schenectady for the final two games of the series and came out on top in both games. 

Game One at SCCC

FM knocked in 12 runs in the second inning on its way to a 14-4 victory.  The Raiders tallied 7 hits in the contest.  Dan Parslow and Kyle Sherlock each led with two hits and two RBI's. 

Parslow was on the mound for the Raiders. He went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking one.

Game Two at SCCC

FM pulled away for good with nine runs in the third inning in route to a 21-1 victory.   Richard Umholtz led things off on the mound, he surrendered one run on four hits over five innings, striking out six.

FM had 15 hits in the game.  Kyle Sherlock, Benjamin McHarg, Cory Moore, Brogan Barker, Andrew Marciniak and Noah Wygel each had multiple hits. 

FM's next contest will be on Tuesday, April 24th when they host Columbia-Greene.
