Raiders celebrate as Brogan Barker scores the winning run in the 9th inning.

The men's baseball team won in walk off fashion in honor of Kevin Chrisman on Saturday afternoon.  FM honored the former Raider catcher in a pre-game ceremony.  Chrisman was a member of the 2014 and 2015 FM baseball teams, who passed away suddenly in the summer of 2015.

After another stellar pitching performance by Bradley Smith, the Raiders sealed a 2-1 victory in 9 innings over the Hudson Valley Vikings.

Cory Moore got the offense rolling in the 4th inning on a double.  Kyle Sherlock hit a hard ground ball to the second baseman and Moore was able to score on an error.

Smith kept working in and out of trouble on the mound.  He gave up a solo home run in the 7th inning to tie the game at 1-1.

Brogan Barker launched a double to right field to start off the bottom of the 9th inning.  Joshua McCaffrey laid down a hard bunt, and the Vikings looked to get Barker heading to third base.  The Vikings pitcher over threw to third and Barker scored to seal the 2-1 extra inning victory.

Smith allowed just five hits and one run over nine innings of baseball.  Andrew Marciniak, Richard Umholtz, Barker and Moore each had hits for FM.

In game two, FM fell short 5-7, in a strong comeback.  Hudson Valley scored 7 runs in the first two innings to take a commanding lead.

Richard Umholtz settled in on the mound and did not allow another run for the rest of the game.  The Raiders would chip away and cut the score to 7-2 heading into the 4th inning.  Benjamin McHarg homered in the 6th scoring two runs.

FM scored again in the 7th, but came up just short to suffer the 7-5 loss.  Umholtz gave up eight hits and struck out three.  Cory Moore and Kyle Sherlock each had two hits in the contest.

The Raiders next contest will be Tuesday, May 1st when they travel to Utica to take on the Hawks of Mohawk Valley.
