Baseball Secures Spot in Region 3 Playoffs

The men's baseball team clinched a spot in the Region 3 playoffs over the weekend.  FM was on the road at Jefferson and Adirondack.  The Raiders went 2-2 in the weekend play.

In game one against Jefferson, FM fell 12-2.  Cory Moore had the lone hit and RBI.  In game two, FM bounced back to win 9-1.  Kyle Sherlock pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits and striking out eight.  The Raiders racked up 7 hits and Joshua McCaffrey led with 2 hits.  Cory Moore and Benjamin McHarg each had doubles.  Brogan Barker and Richard Umholtz each had 2 RBI's. 

On Sunday, FM traveled to Glens Falls to take on Adirondack.  In game one, FM fell 15-7.  Noah Wygel took the loss on the mound for the Raiders.  He pitched three innings and Hunter Young threw three innings in relief.  McCaffrey and James May each had two hits to lead the offense. 

In game two, FM got solid pitching from Dan Parslow to secure a 7-4 win.  Parslow pitched six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits.  Bradley Smith came in for the save in the 7th inning.  At the plate the Raiders collected nine hits.  Brogan Barker, Wygel and Umholtz  all went 2-4 to lead FM.

The Raiders now wait the Regional seeding and have one regular season double header remaining on Thursday.  FM will host the Herkimer Generals at 2:00 p.m.
