FM Outplays Cayuga, Raiders Down Spartans 74-56

AUBURN – The Raiders were ready to run when they stepped into Spartan Hall on Wednesday evening. FMCC played a high-intensity game and defeated Cayuga CC 74-56.

Tyrone Davis soared above the paint and scored, giving FM a 6-5 lead. The Raiders never trailed after that. They ran and swarmed and slowed the Spartans while posting plenty of offense.

Head Coach Ed Collar's roster has depth. Ten different Raiders contributed first-half points.

The Raiders did run into a bit of foul trouble in the early going. FM was called for eight fouls in the first eight and one-half minutes of play, but they were able to adjust. Each team ended up with 24 fouls in the game.

Jordan Stewart had another big game for FM. A particularly acrobatic Stewart field goal gave FM a 14-5 lead. Cayuga mounted a comeback and closed to 15-13, but Tyrone Davis hit for three from the left side and Marquis Edwards added a nice jumper. FM led 20-13.

Late in the half, Barceem Dukes scored, and Raheem Small added a field goal. Jonathan Brioso tallied a two and then put in a rebound for two more. John Sumpter drained a three in the final seconds, and FM led 38-21 at the break.

Small opened the second half with a three-pointer. Stewart scored a field goal, and FM had a 20-point lead of 43-23.

The Raiders were in control, although they suffered a brief scoring lull that saw Cayuga close the gap to 12 points. Dondre Davis got things going again with a trey from the right side. Edwards and Kyle Giddings both grabbed rebounds and scored. FM's lead was back to 17.

The visitors were looking good. Edwards and Tyrone Davis sped off in a two-on-one. Davis fed Edwards, and FM led 66-47. Soon, another Davis-to-Edwards pass put FM up 72-49.
