FM Overcomes 21 point deficit, but Bows to Adirondack in Overtime

The Men's Basketball team traveled to Adirondack Community College to take on the Timberwolves in a Mountain Valley Conference Match-Up.  FM forced the game into overtime playing from behind the entire game, but couldn't pull out the win.  Adirondack won the game 93-86.

The Timberwolves dominated the entire first half behind an unstoppable Rensey Chandler.  FM found themselves on their heels for much of the half and were unable to get defensive stops.  In the second half that was a different story and another FM team showed up to play.

Just seven minutes into the second half FM had scored 17 points and only allowed Adirondack to score six points.  FM's Ayodele Akinmola led the Raiders to their second half surge with a hot shooting hand and was converting at the rim.  He had a game high 33 points.  Tremain Elder got FM the lead with eight minutes remaining and FM up 62-60.  The Timberwolves kept trading baskets with the Raiders and Julius Blake drilled a three point from the corner to put FM up 65-64 with six minutes remaining.

With two minutes remaining Akinmola sank another three pointer to set the score at 75-73 with the Timberwolves winning.  Tremaine Elder converted an easy layup off a nice assist from Akinmola to tie the game at 75.  FM was able to force a turnover and Tremaine Elder got a lay-up and a foul called to tie the score at 77.  Elder was unable to convert the foul shot to out his team up and time expired.

Overtime would begin with a 77-77 score.  Adirondack scored first, but Akinmola followed with two of his own.  Adirondack reeled off six straight points to go up 85-79 and FM was unable to recover. The Timberwolves were able to convert their foul shots down the stretch and go on to win 93-86.

FM is now 3-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.  They will travel to take on Jefferson CC tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
