FM Men's Basketball suffers first loss to Broome

The FM Men's Basketball Squad suffered its first loss of the season against a sharp shooting Broome Hornets Team.  The final score was 101-82.

FM's Andre Taylor put the Raiders on the board after Broome scored two quick baskets.  Shaliem Caldwell followed with a bucket of his own to set the score at 6-4 and Broome with the lead.  Ayodele Akinmola put FM ahead 9-7 for the last time in the contest.  Broome dominated the rest of the half with tough defense and sharp shooting.  Broome scored 8 straight points to push the lead to 29-11 with ten minutes to go in the half.  Barceem Dukes was able to make a three pointer for the corner that gave the Raiders some momentum.  FM started to get defensive stops and ended the half with 6 straight points from Caldwell, Akinmola, and Taylor.  Broome led the game 48-35 going into halftime. 

Broome started the second half with back to back baskets, but FM answered with four of their own to set the score at 53-39.  FM's Barceem Dukes scored a put back layup and forced an offensive charge on Broome.  Dukes answered with another layup and Andre Taylor scored to cut the Broome lead 58-46. Broome was able to convert a three point play and set the score at 67-48 with 12 minutes to go in the game.  FM's Ricky Mitchell sank a three pointer and converted a lay up to cut the Broome lead to 16.  FM couldn't answer on the defensive end as Broome maintained the lead 75-55 with 9 minutes remaining. FM's Michael McKinson scored with 4 minutes remaining and the score was 92-67.  Broome went on to win the contest by a score of 101-82. 

FM's next conest is Wednesday, November 11th when they host Cayuga Community College at 7:00 p.m.
