Men's Basketball Bows to Cayuga

The FM Men's Basketball Team hosted The Spartans of Cayuga Community College in a Region III Match-up.  The Raiders bowed to the Spartans by a score of 84-64. 

The first half was a tale of two solids teams trading basket for basket.  Barceem Dukes scored FM's first points of the off two foul shots.  After Cayuga scored to tie the game up Raiders Freshman Guard Andre Taylor took the offense into his own hands scoring FM's next five points to even the score at 7-7 with 15 minutes remaining in the half.  Kadeem Ridick hit a three from the corner to even the score at eleven.  FM's Ricky Mitchell checked into the game and scored a quick layup.

The Raiders offense went quiet for the next four minutes and Cayuga took the lead 20-16.  Taylor got FM back on the scoreboard when he converted a three point play to cut the cayuga lead to one point. FM regained the lead at the four minute mark when they went on a 7-0 run that was sparked by Andre Taylor.  Ayodele Akinmola converted a three point play of his own to set the score at 37-29 with the Raiders on top.  Cayuga was able to tally the final field goal of the half and both teams headed into the locker room with the FM Raiders up 39-34. 

The Cayuga Spartans dominated the start of the second half going on a 14-0 run to take the lead 48-39.  Barceem Dukes finally got the Raiders on the board at the 14:45 mark in the second half.  FM's Ricky Mitchell drained a three to cut Cayuga's lead to five. Cayuga scored six quick points out of the Raiders defensive press to push the score to 59-49 and a Cayuga lead with ten minutes to play. 

Ayodele Akinmola scored two points to cut the lead to eight, but Cayuga answered.  The Spartans scored 9 straight points before FM was able to answer.  With seven minutes to go Cayuga led 53-70.  FM was unable to answer on either end as Cayuga had pushed the lead to twenty points with just three minutes remaining.  FM took a tough loss to the Cayuga Spartans by a score of 84-64.

FM's next contest will be Sunday, November 15th against The Onondaga Lazers at the Raiders Den.  Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
