Men's Basketball Tops Clinton Cougars

The Men's basketball team hosted the Clinton Cougars in a Mountain Valley Conference contest.  The game was evenly matched and both teams battled basket for basket.  Dante Morgan sank some late game foul shots to propel the Raiders to victory, 79-73.

Dante Morgan put FM ahead 6-4 to start the game.  Both teams came out running and put the ball in the hoop quickly.  FM went on an 8-0 run with 8 minutes left in the half to pull ahead 26-22.   Clinton answered with back to back threes to take the lead 32-29.  FM could not reclaim the lead, but Dylan O'Connor drilled a three to end the half and pull within one, 40-41 

In the second half both teams battled and traded baskets.  O'Connor regained the lead for FM 47-46.  Nigel Hemingway extended the FM lead to 62-57 with 10 minutes remaining.  Clinton went on a 10-2 run with 5 minutes remaining and netted the score at 69.  Kerome Grant dominated the boards down the stretch and Dante Morgan sealed the victory with six straight foul shots.  Clinton was unable to get a defensive stop and the Raiders came out on top 79-73.

Kerome Grant and Nigel Hemingway both had double doubles.  Grant had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Hemingway had 17 points and 10 assits.  Dante Morgan followed with 15 and Dylan O'Connor with 12 points.  

Manny Overo and Austin Avin led with 21 and 18 points for Clinton.

FM's next contest will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when they travel to Hudson Valley to take on the Vikings.
