Men's Basketball Battles to Victory

The Men's Basketball team hosted the Royals from Schenectady CC on Wednesday night.  FM was able to make plays down the stretch to come out on top in an 82-74 nail biter victory.

The Royals jumped out to an 8-14 lead half way through the first half.  Kerome Grant regained the FM lead at 17-16, but Schenectady answered with a 6-0 run.  TiJuan Day sank a three from the elbow to put FM up 29-27.  Schenectady answered with a triple of their own, but Brandon Cooper closed out the half with a floater in traffic to end the half trailing by two, 35-37.

In the second half, Dylan O'Connor pushed the FM lead to 4 points, but The Royals answered right back with a 9-3 run.  Ricky Santiago slammed home a dunk to put FM ahead 55-50 with ten minutes remaining in the contest. 

FM took over in the final three minutes when they had to.  Dante Morgan tied the score at 71 and extended the lead to 74-72 when he converted on a three point play.  FM forced turnovers and outscored the Royals 8-2 in the final minute to secure the 82-74 victory.

Nigel Hemingway led all scorers with 23 points.  Kerome Grant added 16 points and 8 rebounds, and Morgan followed with 14.

Nick Rapp led Schenectady with 20 points.

The Raiders will be off until February 8th when they are set to host the Herkimer Generals in the Raiders Den at 7:00 p.m.
