Men's Basketball Improves to 9-1

The men's basketball team finished the first half of their season on a winning note with a 74-53 victory over Finger Lakes.  The Raiders head into the mid-semester break with on a seven game win streak and a 9-1 record.  Their only loss came in triple overtime against Onondaga on November 10th.

The Lakers hung around with FM in the first half Sunday afternoon.  At the 10 minute mark, the Raiders went on a 12-0 run sparked by Darren Demmitt and Amadou Diakite.  Finger Lakes answered after not scoring for over three minutes and scored 13 straight points to take a 31-30 lead with three minutes remaining.  Jaleel Jean Jacques netted the score at 34 to close out the half.

In the second half, the Raiders came out strong on the defensive end and scored 11 straight points.  Diakite hit two threes in that stretch to spark the offense.  The Lakers finally got on the board with four minutes into the half.  FM kept up the zone pressure and Finger Lakes went cold from three point range.  The Raiders dominated the rest of the game to earn the victory.

Amadou Diakite continues to lead the Raiders. He finished with 20 points, including 5-8 from three point range.  Chris Toussaint had 13 points, Darren Demmitt with 12 points.  Juwan Malone had 10 points and 14 rebounds and Jaleel Jean Jacques had 10 points and 15 rebounds. 

The Raiders will not head into the mid-semester Holiday break.  Their next contest will be Wednesday, January 16th at home when they host Ulster Community College.
