Diakite and Thompson Lead Raiders To Victory

The men's basketball team defeated the Schenectady Royals on Wednesday night and moved to an 11-2 record in the Region 3 standings.

The Raiders jumped out to a 17-7 lead, but Schenectady answered with an 11-0 run with 10 minutes remaining in the half to take the lead 18-17.  Dimitrie Thompson had a big night off the bench for the Raiders and hit a three pointer to cut the Royals lead to 33-30.  Amadou Diakite closed out the half with a three pointer and netted the score at 25 heading into the locker room.

The Raiders wasted no time in the second half and took a 46-39 lead.  Thompson sparked an 8-0 run and FM led 60-49 with 9 minutes left.  Diakite led a balanced attack to finish out the contest and secure a 77-62 victory.

Diakite led with 25 points, including five three pointers and shot 71% from the field.  Thompson followed with 24 points, including four three pointers.  Darren Demmitt finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds and Chris Toussaint had 10 points.

FM's next contest will be Monday, Februaury 4th at home.  The Raiders will host Clinton at 7:00 p.m.
