The men's basketball team finished the first half of their season on Wednesday night. The Raiders fell in heartbreaking fashion to Cayuga by a score of 71-68.
Terrell Evans and Matthew Boyle got the Raiders out to a 5-4 lead to start the game. Both teams played an even first 10 minutes as Ashton Pardie notched the score at 19-19. Cayuga got the advantage late in the half and headed into the locker room leading 36-34.
In the second half, the Raiders and Spartans were tied at 48 with ten minutes to play. Cayuga took a 57-53 lead and a FMCC timeout to follow. Evans tied it at 57 and Brandon Holmes drilled a three to tie it again at 64 with 3 minutes left.
Rashod Liggon scored 4 straight points to put FM up 68-64 with a minute to go. Cayuga would not go away and scored 5 straight points for the 69-68 advantage. FMCC fouled and had a chance for a three at the end but came up short.
Boyle led with 15 points, five rebounds and two steals. Brandon Holmes had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and Terrell Evans with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Raiders finish the first half of the semester at 3-6. FMCC will return to action on January 18th at 3pm with a home game against Hudson Valley.
