Raiders Finish 7th at Region III Tournament

The FMCC Raiders competed in their first Region III Tournament on Sunday in Utica.  The Raiders put on a solid showing, and finished 7th out of 10 teams.  The tournament consisted of 8 games total, including 6 baker matches.

Some of the highlight scores for the Raiders were Damian Sullivan with a 235 and a 184, Charlie Cusano 206 and 192, Donavon Derenzo 188, Matt Frisch 171, Kendra Sweet 167, Daniel McCoy 148 and Shirley Glynn 147. The highest baker score was a 193.

"I was a little disappointed with our results. We started out fine, but as the day wore on, our bowlers wore down. It's a very long day of bowling, 4 games in the morning session, then straight to 4 in the afternoon, then 6 Baker matches, with no breaks in between. They just aren't used to bowling that much and it showed. They tried hard, but the results just weren't there," said Coach Tom Rathbun. "I need to do a better job of getting them prepared for these day long tournaments and that will be a priority for next year."

The bowling season will conclude next week when the Raiders travel to Buffalo for the National Tournament.
