Bowling Places 4th at Conference Match

The FMCC Raiders traveled to Utica on Friday to compete in their second set of conference matches. Once again, FM finished 4th in both matches out of 6 teams.

In the first match, against Herkimer, newcomer Brendan McGillin of Amsterdam led all Raiders with a 3 game series of 627 and two 212 single games. Anthony Miller had his best three game series so far this season with 589 and a high game of 223.  Seth Weeden followed close behind with a 587 and a high single of 210. Captain, Lane Daley posted a 194 single and a 506 triple. Leland VanValkenburg had a high single of 144.

In the second match, FM faced off against a very powerful HVCC team. Once again McGillin paced the FM squad with a 3 game series of 643, with a high single of 244. Lane Daley was close behind with a 628 triple and 236 single. Seth Weeden followed those two with a 625 triple and 222 single. Miller posted a high single of 163.

"This is my 5th year here at FM and that HVCC team is one of the best I have seen. Their 1-6 bowlers are all capable of posting very high numbers and will definitely challenge for a National title", commented Coach Rathbun. "I'm proud of the effort that our guys put forth today. We are not as deep as we have been in years past but they posted some good scores and they did their best. Having Brendan join us certainly helps. We won't be able to defend our Conference Championship this year but this group works hard, are committed to the program and unlike some others, they don't quit. They are a fine group of young men and I really enjoy working with them", added Coach Rathbun.

The last Conference match will be February 11, at ACC.
