The FM Raiders golf team participated in a Mountain Valley Conference match at McConnellsville Country Club on Saturday and finished 6th out of nine teams. Low scores for the Raiders were Kade Kirby with a 92 and Jacob Terwilliger posting a 93. Both Liam Ackerbauer and Cole Hanson failed to break 100.
The Raiders were back at it on Sunday as they traveled to the picturesque Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club in Cicero, New York, on what was finally a warm, sunny day. Kade Kirby was the team medalist with a 92, followed by Liam Ackerbauer with a 97. Newcomer, Cole Hanson didn't break 100, but posted his best 9-hole score of 49 on the back nine.
"It was another cold, rainy day on Saturday and while we posted some decent scores, there is certainly room for some improvement, it's a work in progress", commented Coach Tom Rathbun. On Sunday, there was some nice improvement. Liam shaved 8 strokes off his score from the previous day and Cole is starting to understand what needs to be done to post some lower scores. All in all it was a good day."
The next tournament for the Raiders will be across the state on Saturday, April 30th as they travel to Niagara CC for a Conference match.
