FM showed up ready to play against the nationally ranked Herkimer Generals .  The Raiders started the game off strong and struck first when Justin Marek sailed an indirect kick from midfield into the box.  Aiden VanLoan was able to head the kick to Austin Heroth for the score.  Herkimer answered with a goal with 20 minutes remaining in the half.  Herkimer was able to manage two more goals to close out the half and go up 3-1.  In the second half, FM found themselves playing on the defensive end and allowed three more goals.

Overall, the Raiders played efficient and well against an excellent team.  Coach Leggiero spoke highly of his teams' effort on Saturday.  "Starting the game well is something we have been focusing on this year. It really came together in the first half, Austin Heroth scored the first goal of the game to open up the scoring for the day. An early PK in the second half gave Herkimer a 4-1 lead. This year we are not looking at moral victories, but whenever you compete with Herkimer you are doing something right."

The Raiders carried over their great play against Herkimer into their game against Clinton on Sunday and won 6-0.  The game started quickly when Austin Heroth found Jack Albertin for the goal 3:49 into the game.  For the rest of the match FM applied pressure and the offense fell into place.  Aiden VanLoan lit up the stat sheet as he scored four times in the match.  Justin Marek closed out the game with a goal of his own.  David Vandenabeele and Yauza Arauz played really well at centerback.   Austin Heroth, Justin Marek and Justin Estremera controlled the midfield and Joseph Perez kept the clean sheet in goal.  "When you play well against Herkimer it gives you confidence that you can play with anyone. Today we finally put it together!," said Leggiero.

The Raiders will get some well needed rest this week.  They are back in action on Saturday, September 17th when they travel to Broome CC for an 11:00 a.m. match.
