Coach Leggiero and the FM soccer squad thought their season was over on October 15th. The Raiders suffered a loss to Corning on their final regular season game and just missed their chance at making the regional tournament; or so they thought. Now one week later, to their surprise, the Raiders got the call that they are the #8 seed in the Region III Championship Tournament!
After a short hiatus, the Raiders are back and they are hungry. FM will travel to Herkimer on Wednesday, October 26th to take on the #1 seed Generals in the Region III semi-final. "This is a huge step for the program. For far too long FM was looked at as an easy win. This team has really changed the perception. When you are one of the top 8 teams in the region you are doing something right," said Leggiero.
The Raiders last played Herkimer on September 10th and lost 6-1. This time around FM is hoping to change the outcome. "Having to face the number one seed is never an easy task. Facing Herkimer earlier this year will help with our game preparation. However, we aren't going to change anything, we are going to continue to play the way we have been. We have to go with what has gotten us here," exclaimed Leggiero.
