Soccer Finishes 1-1 in Weekend Play

The Soccer team split a weekend series against Broome CC and Jefferson CC.  FM fell short against Broome 4-1, but bounced back to beat Jefferson 6-3.

FM hosted the Broome Hornets on Saturday and fell behind early in the match.  The Hornets scored four unanswered goals in the first half.  Jack Albertin was able to score the lone goal for FM 43 minutes into the half to end the first half trailing by three goals. Both teams were held at bay in the second half and FM took the loss, 4-1.  Jared Rubin had six saves and Robert Ward finished with three. 

On Sunday, the Raiders traveled to Watertown to take on Jefferson and came out on top.  FM fell behind quickly 3-0, but Cameron Biche ended the first half with a goal off of an Austin Heroth cross. 

The FM offense came out fast in the second half.  Aiden VanLoan got the scoring started off a Jack Albertin assist.  Albertin scored seven minutes later off of a PK to tie the score at three apiece. Bern Sannon drilled a 35 yard shot to put FM in the lead 4-3. 

The Raiders offense wasn't don't yet, as Amir Avila found the back of the net and Jared Albertin scored off of a Brendan Gifford cross to secure the come from behind 6-3 victory.

The Raiders move to 3-3 on the season and will have a ten day hiatus before their next match.  FM will host the Mohawk Valley Hawks on Wednesday, September 27th at 4:00 p.m.
