The men's soccer team battled with Erie Community College to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Wednesday.   The Kats came into the contest ranked 7th in the NJCAA Region 3 poll and FM would give them a tough day.

The Raiders took an early 1-0 lead, with a goal by Kevin Maldonado, off an assist by Yasser Mourad.  FM held the one goal lead heading into halftime.

Erie came into the second half strong and scored ten minutes into the half.  The rest of regulation play, both teams kept each other at bay and headed into overtime.

Yasser Mourad had a good chance three minutes into the first over time, but his shot hit the cross bar.  Erie was able to dominate possession the rest of the first overtime, but was not able to find the back of the net.

In the second overtime period, Ahmed Mourad was able to get by the Erie goalie, but was unable to convert on a score.  Jonathan Mendoza was stellar in goal for the Raiders and held the Kats to just one goal in the match.

"Today was a typical match between two great teams; each team had the run of play.  We are not pleased with the draw, but drawing against a top 10 team that is nationally ranked isn't that bad.  I hope this result sends a message that we are here to play, the days of easy wins are over," said Leggiero.

The Raiders will have a crucial road trip this weekend.  FM will travel to play Niagara Saturday and Cayuga on Sunday.
