Softball Falls Against Timberwolves

The women's softball team dropped a double header against the Adirondack Timberwolves on Thursday afternoon.  FM fell 10-1 in game one and came up short in game two, 12-9

Adirondack jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but FM answered in the bottom of the 1st inning.  Gabrielle Smith led off with a triple and Sam De La Fleur ripped an RBI single, scoring Smith.

The Timberwolves scored two more runs in the 2nd and had a big inning in the 5th to put the game out of reach and secure the 10-1 victory.  

De La Fleur went the distance in the circle for FM and also had the only RBI single.  Taylor Hill was the only other Raider with a hit for FM.   

In game two, FM took an early 2-0 lead.  Julie Hampton and Smith led off with singles.  Emily Washburn singled to score Hampton and Hill singled to score Smith.

Adirondack scored one run in the second inning to set the score at 2-1.  In the 3rd inning Taylor Hill had another RBI single and Alexis Darling drilled a 2 RBI single, scoring Washburn and Smith.  FM led 5-1. Adirondack clawed back to tie the game at 5 heading into the 4th inning.

Taylor Hill led off in the 5th with a double, but was unable to cross the plate.  The Timberwolves scored 5 runs in the 6th inning to extend the lead 12-6.  FM scored three runs in the 7th inning, off of a double by Morgan StPierre, but it wasn't enough as the Raiders fell 12-9. 

Offensively, FM had 14 hits.  Taylor Hill had a big day at the plate going 3-4 with two double and 2 RBI's.  Julie Hampton had three singles, De La Fleur had a triple and a single, and Gabrielle Smith had two singles.  Emily Washburn, Alexis Darling, and Morgan StPierre all had two hits. 

FM's next contest will be tomorrow when they travel to Hudson Valley CC to take on the Vikings.
