Softball Opens Up 2019 Season Against Mohawk Valley

The women's softball team opened up their 2019 campaign on Tuesday at Mohawk Valley Community College.  The Lady Raiders fell in both games; 15-1 and 11-10.

FM suffered some first gamer jitters and the Hawks scored 4 runs in the first inning and 8 runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach.  The Lady Raiders had four hits in game one.  Emily Washburn led with a double and scored the lone run for FM.  Mallory Baldwin, Juliana Buyce, and Marque Herr each had singles. Sam De La Fleur got the start in the circle for FM.

The Lady Raiders bounced back in game two and the offense came alive.  Emily Washburn got the start for the Raiders.  FM scored four runs in the 1st inning as Baldwin led off with a walk.  Alexandria Benfatti followed with a single and Washburn drilled a double scoring Baldwin.  Juliana Buyce kept the offense going ripping a single, scoring two more runs.  Herr was hit by a pitch and Buyce was able to cross home plate for a 4-0 lead. 

MVCC answered with just one run in the first inning and FM was able to get one more run in the second inning to lead 5-1.  The Hawks tied the game at 5 after three innings and took an 11-5 lead heading into the 7th inning.

In the final inning the Raiders rallied for 5 runs, but came up just short.  FM pounded out 13 hits in the loss.  Sam De La Fleur, Marque Pacillo, Sierra Logan, Buyce, Washburn and Baldwin each had two hits.
