FM Women Keep Winning, Strengthen Conference Lead

HERKIMER – The Lady Raiders played another strong game on Thursday evening. They battled the Lady Generals on the Generals' home hardwood. FM won the game 82-68. It was the Lady Raiders' 13th win in their last 14 games.

Herkimer stayed with FM for the first half. The score was 40-39 in the Lady Raiders' favor as the teams went into the break. Fulton-Montgomery then established a 65-50 lead by the midpoint of the second half and basically maintained that lead for the rest of the game.

The win keeps FM soundly atop the Mountain Valley Conference standings with a 10-1 conference record. Schenectady is second, at 7-3, followed closely by Mohawk Valley and Hudson Valley.

The FM Five will play Mohawk Valley in the Raiders Den on Sunday, and it will be the squad's final home game of the season. The Lady Raiders are ranked second among the 15 teams in Region 3. Mohawk Valley is ranked #5.  These same two teams played a dandy game in Utica on January 11. FM won that contest 76-73.

The Lady Raiders will finish conference play with road games at North Country and Hudson Valley.

Head Coach Kevin Jones' team's goal is to keep playing well, win the conference, and be well-prepared for the postseason Region 3 tournament. That regional championship tournament will be played in Syracuse at Onondaga CC, February 28 – March 2.
