Lady Cougars and Lady Raiders Play into Overtime

ROCHESTER – The FMCC women's basketball began their 2014-15 season playing in Monroe Community College's MCC Kickoff Tournament. On Sunday the FM squad and the Lady Cougars of Genesee CC played a thrilling contest that went into overtime.

Genesee led 76-73 as regulation time was running out.  FM's Jessica Woney launched a three-point attempt but was fouled with just 0.2 seconds left on the clock. Woney stepped to the free throw line and sank all three free throws. The game was tied 76-76 and was headed into OT.

The Lady Raiders scored nine points in that extra frame, but they were also called for costly fouls. Stephanie Rice and Abby Boyer both fouled out, and Genesee went on to win 93-85.

Saturday Play

The FM women opened their season on Saturday against a very strong Monroe CC quintet. Monroe ran to a 94-50 win.

Coming Games

The Lady Raiders will play their first home games this coming weekend. They will host Tompkins Cortland CC on Saturday and SUNY Broome on Sunday. Tip time for both games is 1:00 p.m.
