#1 Onondaga Lady Lazers Defeat Lady Raiders

SYRACUSE – The Onondaga CC women's basketball team remained undefeated by downing the visitors from FM by the score of 67-48 on Sunday afternoon. The tall and talented Lady Lazers raised their record to 7-0. The Lady Raiders are now 3-3.

Abby Boyer, Evanda Redwood, Jessica Woney, and Stephanie Rice all scored early to give FM a 9-6 lead, but the OCC team is ranked as the top team in the region for a reason. They have a great starting five and a deep bench. They entered Sunday's contest without a blemish on their record, and the Raiders were unable to give OCC their first loss.

Midway through the first half, OCC led 18-14. FM's players worked hard, but were not able to keep pace with the Lazers. FM's Jess Woney sank a nice three-pointer as the first half was ending, but the home team was ahead 35-24. The Raiders were further hindered by foul trouble. Boyer and Rice both had been assessed three personal fouls.

The second half totals were similar to the first, with FM scoring 24 more points while OCC scored 32. The Lady Lazers built a 19-point lead by the middle of the second half, and the game ended with a 19-point gap, 67-48.

The Lady Raiders' next game will be at home in the Raiders Den this coming Saturday. They will host SUNY Adirondack with a 1:00 p.m. start. Adirondack's record is 1-3. FM will play again on Sunday when they will host always-tough Jefferson CC. That game also has a 1:00 start.
