Lady Raiders Open Season with a Win Against Delhi

The FMCC women's basketball team began their 2015-16 season playing at home against SUNY Delhi in the Raiders Den.  FM beat the Broncos by a score of 80-33.

The Lady Raiders dominated their game with the Lady Broncos from start to finish. My'eesa Grant scored the game's first field goal, and the visitors from Delhi trailed from that point on.

Abby Boyer and Rylie Smith got off to a hot start from behind the arc in the first quarter.  Boyer hit two threes along with another three from Smith to go up 14-5.  Kaina Martinez ended the quarter with a field goal off of an assist from Moet Jenkins and the score was 25-12.

The second quarter saw a fast paced FM squad pushing the ball up the court and staying hot from three point land.  Smith and Martinez tallied two more three pointers and both teams went into the locker rooms with the score at 43-21. 

The third quarter started out slow on the offensive end, but the Raiders defense picked up the slack.  Moet Jenkins led the raiders pressure defense forcing three straight turnovers.  The defensive pressure turned into easy points for the Raiders, which held the Broncos to just eight points in the quarter.  The score after three quarters was 65-29

My'eesa Grant started the final quarter with six straight points for her team to go up 71-29.  Kaina Martinez hit a three from the corner to go up 76-3.1 The Raiders dominated the rest of the game and went on to win their season opener 80-33.

FM next contest will be Saturday November 3rd when they travel to Tompkins Cortland Community College in a Region III match-up.   Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
