The 22-4 Mohawk Valley Women's basketball team invaded the Raiders Den in a Mountain Valley Conference game.  The Lady Raiders pulled out all the stops in their final regular season game and hung with the Hawks for the entire game.   FM battled, but suffered a 69-61 loss and finished the regular season with an astounding 18-6 record.

MV jumped out to an 11-6 lead with 5 minutes remaining in the quarter.  FM was able to go on a 9-2 run to close out the the quarter leading 15-14.  During that run FM saw scoring from My'eesa Grant, Abby Boyer and Sabriana Franck. 

Franck opened the second quarter with a three pointer, but MV answered with 7 straight points to regain the lead 21-18.  Boyer sank two foul shots to set the score at 23-22 MV and that would be the last time FM would score in the quarter.  The Hawks went on a 14-0 run and FM headed to the locker room down 37-22. 

FM came out firing on all cylinders in the second half.  Rylie Smith opened up the 3rd quarter with a three pointer.  Franck drilled another three, Moet Jenkins sank two three pointers and Boyer drilled another three pointer of her own and FM was back in the game 37-50 with two minutes to go.  Boyer made another three from a nice dish from Jenkins and cut the MV lead to just ten heading into the 4th quarter.  

Shantel Acevedo opened up the quarter with another FM three to cut the MV lead to just seven.  MV was able to extend their lead to ten with 3:30 remaining in the game, but Kaina Martinez answered with a coast to coast layup.  MV drilled a three pointer with a minute to go up and put the score at 66-56.  FM was unable to over come the deficit and suffered a tough 61-69 loss to the Hawks. 

The FM Lady Raiders season is not over yet.  They are set to host the first round of regionals on Tuesday, February 23rd. Time and opponent is yet to be determined.
