Men's and Women's Basketball Suffer Tough Loss to Mohawk Valley

The Men's and Women's Basketball Teams traveled to Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Hawks brought in a 10-0 conference record into the contest and the MV Men brought in a 6-2 conference record.

The Lady Raiders showed they could hang with the Lady Hawks and gave them a conference battle. FM would get into some foul trouble in the first half, but were still able to end the half trailing by 5 points, 39-34. FM's Rylie Smith led the Raiders with 14 points and kept them in the game as the score was 54-46 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  FM ran out of gas in the 4th quarter as they were outscored 28-7 and suffered a tough 82-53 loss.

The FM Men were coming off a close loss to the Herkimer Generals and were ready for another thriller against the MV Hawks.  FM led the Hawks 41-40 going into the half and the close battle continued in the second half.  The Raiders were down by just two points with 12 seconds remaining and got off a last second shot, but it didn't go.  FM saw four players in double figures, but it wasn't enough as they fell to MV 89-87.

Both squads are looking to bounce back when they travel to Herkimer this week.  The Women will play the Generals on Monday at 6:00 pm. and the Men take on the Generals on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
