Lady Raiders Suffer Tough Season Ending Loss in Regional Semi-Finals

The Women's Basketball Team's post season run came to an end as they suffered a well fought battle against Mohawk Valley Community College in the Region III Semi Final.  The Lady Raiders battled adversity and foul trouble all game long, but came up short 64-56.

MV got out to a 5-0 lead, but My'eesa Grant was able to put FM on the board with 7 minutes remaining in the quarter.  Ryle Smith and Moet Jenkins made points from the line, but the Hawks scored the final three points of the quarter to take the lead 14-8.

Shantel Acevedo drained a jumper for the Raiders to open up the 2nd quarter.  MV would then go on a 9-0 run and gain their biggest lead of the game 25-10 with 6 minutes left in the quarter.  Sabriana Franck cut the MV lead to ten off of a Jenkins assist.  Smith started to lead the Raiders offense to end the quarter as she converted on a three point play and scored another lay up.  The Lady Raiders went into the locker room trailing 34-25.

In the 3rd quarter the Raiders kept chipping away at the MV lead.  Grant and Smith scored for the Raiders to cut the lead to just eight points, but MV would find a way to go on a run of their own.  Abby Boyer converted on a lay-up to put the score at 44-40, but the Hawks would close out the quarter drilling a three and extending their lead to 49-40.

Mohawk Valley went on a 6-0 run with 5 minutes remaining in the game to set the score at 59-46, but FM would not go away.  My'eesa Grant cut the score to 61-54 with one minute remaining, but MV converted on an offensive rebound and foul shot.  FM battled from behind all game, but came up just short and suffered a 64-56 loss.

FM finishes its 2015-16 campaign in astounding fashion, with a 19-7 overall record and 16-5 Region III record.
