Lady Raiders Advance to Region III Final Four with Win Against TC3

The third seeded Lady Raiders hosted the sixth seeded Panthers from Tompkins Cortland Community College in the first round of the Region III Championship Tournament.  Abby Boyer scored 22 points and Rylie Smith followed with 18, as FM went on to win 78-57.

FM's My'eesa Grant and Abby Boyer put the Raiders on top 9-3.  The Panthers bounced back and went on a 6-1 run to close out the quarter trailing by just one, 12-11.  TC3 continued their run  in the 2nd quarter as they scored scored six straight points to take the lead for the first time 17-14 with 7:51 remaining in the quarter.  Boyer answered with back to back threes to put FM back on top 20-27. Sabriana Franck scored 4 points to put FM up 29-22, but the Panther's Mariah Crawford drilled a three pointer to end the quarter.  FM led 29-25. 

The Raiders came out of the gates in the second half as Moet Jenkins sank a three from the top of the key.  Rylie Smith scored five straight points midway through the quarter to put FM ahead 42-29.  The Panthers went on an 11-3 run in the final three minutes to creep back in the game trailing only 48-43.  

In the 4th quarter FM outscored TC3 30-14 which was led by Boyer and Smith who combined for 20 of those points.  Rylie Smith gave FM momentum with 7 minutes to play when she converted on a three pointer. The next time down the floor she sank another three and got fouled to score 7 points in less than a minute and push the lead to 59-48.  Boyer sank another three to go up 71-50 and Torri Richard sealed the win for FM with a three pointer and a 78-57 victory. 

FM moves on to the Final Four of the Regional Championship Tournament.  They are set to face a familiar foe in #2 Mohawk Valley on Saturday, February 27th at Onondaga CC.  Game time is TBD.

In the othermatch-up #1 Onondaga will face #4 Jefferson.
