Women's Basketball Tops TC3

The Lady Raiders opened up at home against the Tompkins Cortland CC Panthers in a Region III match-up.   FM got off to a fast start and was able to win their first home game of the season in dominant fashion.

The 1st quarter started off slow for FM, but they were able to settle in half way through the first quarter.  My'eesa Grant put FM up 12-7, off of a Julie Hampton assist.  Kaina Martinez converted on a runner in the paint to go up 16-7, and the Panthers closed out the quarter with a couple of free throws to cut the FM lead 16-9. 

In the 2nd quarter the FM offense went to work and outscored the Panthers 25-8.  Rylie Smith drilled a three pointer to put the Raiders ahead 26-11.  Shantel Acevedo had the hot shooting hand and made two shots to end the quarter and put the home team up 41-19.  My'eesa Grant and Amirah Greene led FM scorers with 10 first half points each.

TC3 scored four straight points to open up the 3rd quarter.  Greene scored back to back baskets to put FM up 49-28.  Rylie Smith drilled another three from the corner, but TC3 scored the final five points of the quarter to set the score at 56-37. FM was able to maintain its lead and  close out the final quarter to go on and win 72-51.

Amirah Greene led the way in scoring with 19 points and 8 rebounds.  My'eesa Grant and Rylie Smith scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points each. 

FM's next contest will be tomorrow at home when they host the Hornets from Broome CC.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
