The women's basketball team hosted their home opener of the 2017 season on Saturday. FM hosted Onondaga and fell to the Lazers 84-51. Julie Hampton led the Raiders with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Diasia DeBoue followed with 10 points and 4 assists.
Onondaga jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the 1st quarter, but Shaun Smith cut the deficit to four when she drained a three pointer. The Lazers went on an 8-0 run to close out the quarter and led 21-9. Julie Hampton started the scoring for FM in the 2nd quarter and the Lady Raiders trailed 11-26. Zaria Crawford and Smith closed out the half with three pointers, but Onondaga led 41-24 at the half.
FM opened up the 3rd quarter on a 9-2 run and Hampton drained a three to cut the Lazer lead to just ten; 36-46. Onondaga outscored the Raiders to end the quarter leading 59-41. The Lazers outscored the Lady Raiders 25-10 in the final quarter and FM could not recover and fell 84-51.
FM's next contest will be next weekend when they travel to Adirondack on Saturday, the 18th for a 1:00 p.m. game.
