Lady Raiders Fall to Vikings

The women's basketball team got back to the hardwood for the first time in six weeks on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Raiders hosted the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings and dropped the contest 69-45.

McKiea Weekes was back in uniform for the Raiders after year long injury.  She got the Raiders on the board to start the game and FM took a 6-3 lead.   Hudson Valley went on a 9-2 run to close out the quarter leading 14-9.

Julie Hampton drilled a three pointer to begin the second quarter.  FM struggled to convert on the offensive end and the Vikings took advantage.  They went on a 13-1 run to lead FM 29-16.  Hampton was able to close out the half with a three pointer, but the Raiders trailed 26-20 heading into the locker room. 

The Vikings opened up the 3rd quarter on an 8-0 run to extend their lead 44-20.  Hampton scored 8 straight points for FM to end the quarter trailing 30-47.  The Vikings outscored FM 22-15 in the final quarter to seal the victory; 69-45. 

Mckeia Weekes led FM with 19 points and 19 rebounds.  Julie Hampton finished with 16 points.  Melpomeni Doutsis led all scorers with 22 points for Hudson Valley.

FM's next contest will be at home on Wednesday, January 24th when they host Columbia Green at 5:00 p.m.
