The women's basketball team began the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Onondaga Community College Hoops classic. The Raiders set the tone and came out starting the season 2-0.
On Saturday, the Lady Raiders defeated Rowan College 64-49. McKiea Weekes led FM with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Niamani Marshall followed with a double double; 14 points and 10 rebounds and finished with 5 assists. Niasia Phillips followed in double figures with 13 points.
On Sunday, FM matched up against Hostos Community College. The Caimans were ranked #1 in the NJCAA Coaches Pre-Season poll. The Lady Raiders trailed at the half 27-30, but came out strong in the second half. FM outscored Hostos 14-6 in the final quarter to secure the victory.
DiAsia DeBoue had a big day leading the Raiders with 21 points, 7 assists and 9 rebounds. Niaimani Marshall finished with 12 points and Destiny Prather shot 4 of 8 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Lady Raiders begin their Region 3 schedule on Wednesday, November 7th when they travel to Cayuga Community College for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
