Lady Raiders Fall in Non-Conference Play

The women's basketball team began the 2019 half of their season on Sunday afternoon.  The Lady Raiders hosted the undefeated division II Niagara Wolves and fell in the contest, 79-57. 

The Wolves outscored the Raiders in the first quarter 23-9.  Niaimani Marshall sank a three to cut the deficit 15-27.  Niagara answered with a 14-0 run, including four three pointers and headed into half time with a 49-21 lead.

The Lady Raiders had a more balanced attack offensively in the second half.  Barbara-Inez McKinney sparked an 8-0 and FM chipped away, 35-56.  McKinney closed out the quarter with a three point play and the Raiders trailed, 40-61.

In the final quarter, FM scored 17 points and McKiea Weekes had a strong presence around the hoop.  Niagara was able to secure their 19th victory of the season, 79-57.

Niaimani Marshall led with 26 points for FM.  Weekes finished with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

The Lady Raiders move to 7-3 on the season and will continue non-conference play on Wednesday, January 16th.  FM hosts Ulster Community College at 5pm in the Raiders Den.
