The women's basketball team fell 65-61 in the Region 3 Semi-Final game against North Country. The Lady Raiders impressive 2018-19 season comes to a close with a 14-7 record.
FM trailed at the half 31-27, but would come out strong in the second half. Three minutes into the third quarter, Niaimani Marshall converted on a three to set the score at 33-30. DiAsia DeBoue caused a North Country turnover and Barbara-Inez McKinney grabbed an offensive rebound and converted on the three point play to net the score at 35. The Saints went on an 8-0 run and closed out the quarter leading 50-43.
In the final quarter, the Raiders held the Saints scoreless for over five minutes and FM trailed by just one, 50-49. Both teams traded baskets and DeBoue made a big shot with 12 seconds to set the score at 63-61. North Country was able to convert on foul shots down the stretch to secure the win.
Marshall led with 29 points and was named to the Region 3 All-Tournament team. DeBoue finished with 15. McKiea Weekes followed with 12 points for the Lady Raiders.
Marshall also earned 1st team all-conference and 1st team all-region. DeBoue and Weekes were both named to 3rd team all-region and all-conference.
